The more you sweat in practice, the less you bleed in battle.
This past week I went hard in the gym. Every day was two-a-days. Mornings mostly consisted of weight training and afternoons were cardio. Friday was one of the most challenging days to date. The morning workout consisted of weight training that focused on shoulders, hamstrings, and abs. It was basically 1.5 hrs of straight weight training. Then in the afternoon I did this workout at Xtreme Fit.

Saturday morning I was definitely hurting. Denise (my roommate and friend) and I decided to go to the gym to loosen up our muscles. We did about 40 minutes of high intensity cardio and regular cardio. Probably won’t ever do that again before boxing training. 3o minutes after working out with Denise I had boxing training–straight cardio for about an hour. Definitely wore myself out. Its always good to work hard, but it is possible to over train. I try to give myself a complete cheat day on Sunday where I don’t train, dont think about training (which is almost impossible), and I allow myself to cheat on my diet.
Today I will do what others won’t, so tomorrow I can accomplish what others can’t.
I always try to have a goal, no matter how big or how small the goal may be. I like to be constantly moving forward, constantly working towards something. Nothing good comes from standing still or moving backwards (focusing on the past). I try to work my hardest every day because I know that there is a chance that someone may be working hard than I am. I always tell people who ask for my advice about training or nutrition, if you really want it, you will make the necessary sacrifices. My coach always says, “know your why.” Know why you are doing something, why you want to achieve that goal, and why you are sacrificing your time and effort. I constantly remind myself of my why when I walk into the gym whether it is for strength and conditioning or boxing training. I remind myself that I am doing this for me and no one else. I’m the only one that has to step in the ring, so I train my body, emotions, and mind accordingly–to stand alone.
